WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Mike Braun released the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) hearing addressing campus sexual assault and ensuring student safety and rights.
“Today’s hearing shines a light on a very serious problem on college campuses: sexual assault. Universities and colleges need to provide a safe and supportive campus environment, while also ensuring there is a secure system in place to provide victims of sexual assault with the proper care following any incidents. As a society, we must condemn and speak out about sexual violence, educate against such behavior, and punish those who perpetrate it, all while ensuring due process occurs, which is not mutually exclusive.”
