WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Braun joined Neil Cavuto to discuss infrastructure and Democrats’ $3.5 trillion spending proposal.
ON PAYING FOR INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT:
“Everyone knows our roads and bridges and even broader infrastructure – throw in rural broadband – needs attention. For the two and a half years I’ve been here no one has been serious about the question that requires political will: how do you pay for it without gimmicks?”
ON GOING ALONG WITH INFRASTRUCTURE DEAL WITHOUT HARD PAY-FORS WHEN DEMOCRATS PLAN FOR $3.5 TRILLION RECONCILIATION PACKAGE:
“To me, this is like paving the road to socialism. Even though you’re trying to talk about hard infrastructure, that is what worries me. We were $18 trillion in debt when I got here 2 years ago; we’re approaching $30 trillion now, and it gets shrugged off like nothing when you’re adding another $3.5 trillion. On top of the $1.9 trillion package the federal government passed earlier this year, that’s a lot of money to borrow.”
